Padi Scuba Education Open Water Diver

We are professional Scuba Diving Educators offering an extensive range of Padi Courses. We also provide tailored training for the individual.
Our Instructors have “been there, done that” and have many years of experience in scuba diving and teaching.
As a Padi 5-Star center, we offer the best learning experience in St Kitts.

Open Water Diver

The Padi Open Water course is the entry-level course where all divers start.
To earn your OW Certification you will undergo academic study, pool practice sessions, and 4 boat dives.
We can also offer you a “Referral” where you complete only your final “checkout dives” in St Kitts.

Smallmouth Grunt

Open Water Referral Course – 2 Days

Academics and pool sessions are completed at home with the dive school of your choice.

4 boat dives over 2 days.

Your referral does NOT need to be from a Padi center, we accept referrals from SDI, SSI, NAUI, etc

Full Open Water Course – 3 Days + home study

Academic Study – completed by eLearning before arrival on the island.

Review of eLearning.

A minimum of half a day for the pool session.

4 boat dives over 2 days.

Choosing between a “Full course” and a “Referral”

If you have only 1 week of vacation, we recommend a Referral course, this saves you a day of your vacation you can enjoy on our island.

Contact your local dive center, and discuss your plans with them, costs will usually work out around the same whichever you choose.

When you contact us, one of our instructors will reply personally and give you full information on the course.

What you need to know

This course qualifies you to a maximum dive depth of 60 ft (18m).

You require an average level of fitness and to be in good health.

You need to be able to swim 200 yds.

You need to be able to tread water unaided for 5 minutes.

Minimum age 10 yrs.

All Student divers are required to complete a diver medical form.

Timing and course duration

The course moves at your pace. The easy dive skills are mastered before moving on to more complex ones. If you need more time than is planned for the course, then extra time is available for an additional cost. The vast majority of our students complete the in-water sections of the course in 3 half days.

Standards for the course

We do not expect perfection from a new diver. However, we do expect you to be able to complete each skill safely (most skills are safety-related). We use words like “Comfortable”, “Repeatable”, and “Maintaining Buoyancy” to describe what we expect from you.
Your Open Water Diver qualification is recognized all over the world and qualifies you to dive (with a Buddy) to a depth of 60 ft / 18 m.

How Padi eLearning works

Most of our courses have eLearning available for the Academic Study Section. The cost is detailed on our rates page and payable by you, directly to Padi.
We will send you a web link that associates you with Pro Divers St Kitts, allowing us to follow your progress and assist you if necessary.
As part of the signup process, you will create a profile in the Padi App and have access to the dive logbook within the app.

If eLearning is not available for your course.

For courses without eLearning, a manual is available, either as a PDF or a book you can purchase locally.
